When I started www.pardontheporch.com at the height of the pandemic, I knew I wanted to move into interviews/human interest stories. A couple of you even gave me a few hours each of interview audio, which I still have sitting in my hard drive. So I’ve been mulling this over and thinking and working on it, and the vision remained blurry.
Then, at my job, we began targeting different specific communities around Jacksonville’s urban core and outlying neighborhoods for community engagement, and my vision for this project started coming into focus. The “porch” notion and the branding centered around this architectural home feature started for me in Florida last summer, so it seems appropriate that the vision comes full circle back here, in Jacksonville, Florida.
Slice of life, human glimpses of individual people, compiled from personal interviews with them and an accompanying portrait of each of them on their porch. Of course!
So may I present to you— Jax on the Porch!
